Thank you for the kind mention, and we're happy we were able to inspire you to reflect on your journey as a weekly newsletter. We can definitely share some of the struggles you're facing. We sometimes have the luck that there is two of us, which means that we can share the load when one of us has a busy week. Nevertheless, posting 48 consecutive weeks is something you should be proud of! 👏

We're eager to follow the rest of your journey!

Mateus, thank you so much for publishing this. It addresses many of the concerns I experience as a substack writer. I started out trying to publish once a week and found that I had to sacrifice quality for quantity if I met that goal. Now I focus on places I've traveled to and, hopefully, provide information about those places that is not commonly known. Usually, I start by looking at my photographs and begin my research based on them... I strive to keep my information as accurate as possible, and I have discovered there is NO SHORTAGE of false information and errors on the internet. I really have to dig to get the info I want. This takes time.

Then there's the writing of the substack. We all have our own style, and I try to keep mine informative, interesting, and unpredictably quirky. This takes more time.

Your posting hit the nail on the head for me. At times, I've wondered why I do this. Does anyone even care about the quality of my writing or the accuracy of the information I've given? How do other writers post articles every few days - well written articles?

I've considered asking if other substack writers are experiencing the same struggles as I am. Your posting gave me encouragement.

Best to you, Matteus.

I am very glad this post hits you in this way, Lois. I see as a dual choice road. Every post I send I have the feeling "with could be better". At the same time, it's impossible, in this moment, spent more time on it. I am building an audience brick by brick. I have no despair because it's not my main income. Meanwhile I try to improve my skills as a writer and a nomad, to deliver the best content as possible. I don't know where these road will take me, I can give up, pivot to another project or release a book with my story. What I definitely want is to keep write. I hope you find your ideal balance. Nice to meet you and we keep in touch.

I’ve wanted to write all my life. My first career was in Accounting. My second was in counseling. I stopped taking on new clients two years ago. Now I’m meeting with a few people a week, writing and doing whatever I want. Like you, I don’t know where this road will take me but, as I once told my dad, “I’ve never been lost that I haven’t eventually found myself.” Thanks so much for your transparency.

Thanks for sharing your process on Substack Mateus. I've been on here for almost 4 months and staying dedicated has its challenges. I like the idea of a personalized WhatsApp group to make a list of ideas!
